Castle classified as a historical monument, built around 1590 by Nicolas Rapin, provost marshal of the Connétabli of France and companion of King Henri IV, this castle is renowned for its fireplace with alchemical symbol, its Renaissance ceilings with carved stone coffers, its woodwork from the Château de Chambord with its golden-leaf suns from the room of King Louis XIV and the door to the cabinet of King François I er. In the nineteenth century, Octave de Rochebrune, born in Newfoundland, owner of the castle and famous aquafortist, received many medals in Paris for his work and embellished Newfoundland throughout his life.
