This week, I take you to discover an entity where are the most famous Chamois of Niort …
They make speak at present a lot about them, because after a victory 3-0 against Sarreguemines during the 16èmes of finale of the French cup, Chamois Niortais will face Paris-Saint-Germain at the stadium René-Gaillard on Wednesday, March 1st for the 8th of finale …
Proud of its colors, the team pennant of the club fights every weekend on the lawns of the League 2 since the ascent in 2012.
But why "Chamois"?
Everything gives some explanation when in 1925, Charles Boinot, the son of the owner of a local chamoiserie, created the club under the name of "Chamois Niortais Football club". For this day, this name remained intact and the players bear proudly the name of chamois.
We can moreover notice that the emblem of the club is represented by this animal to dashing figure.
The stadium René-Gaillard
Inaugurated in August, 1974 under the name of " stadium of Green Venice ", the cave of Chamois will be later renamed in memory by the former mayor of Niort. She can welcome 11.352 spectators within her 4 forums today.
Its record of influx goes back to the season 1987-1988, Chamois faced then Olympic of Marseille in Division 1; only season of the club within the current League 1. On October 24th, 1987, they thus were 16.715 people to come to support Chamois! Will the record be beaten for the reception of Paris-Saint-Germain? Answer on March 1st!
The stadium René-Gaillard also benefits from a track among the most beautiful of France. The Stadium Niortais Athlétisme is thus the second tenant of this surrounding wall with Chamois Niortais.

French cup 1991: quarter of finalist.
League Cup: finalist in 1991 and finalist 1/2 in 2001.
Vice-champion of the French championship of League 2 in 1987.
Champion of the National French championship (D3) in 2006.
West central group: champion in 1985 and 1992.
Championship of Division of west central Honor (D6): champion in 1946, 1947, 1948 and 1960.
League Cup of the west central region: winner in 1947, 1948, 1950, on 1966, 1970, 1975, on 1986, 1990, 1992, on 1996, 2001 and 2011.
