There are not only ice creams or pancakes in Niort, we also went baguenauder in the beautiful Bernard d'Agesci museum of the Niortaise agglomeration. Housed in the buildings of the former Lycée Jean-Macé which have been superbly renovated, it bears the name of a great artistic figure of Niort, Bernard d'Agesci (1756-1829), of his real name Augustin Bernard.
It is a multidisciplinary museum with several sections: fine arts and decorative arts, natural history and conservatory of education. We start with a temporary exhibition dedicated to the "Regional Jewel, a Niortaise specialty" which makes us discover a goldsmith’s workshop in the 19th century and the role of male and female jewels that adorn the costumes and mark the passages of life. ...
