Meeting with Nathalie Sabourin, painter at Magné

Curiosity Audrey - conseillère en séjours By Audrey - conseillère en séjours, the 26 December 2019

How about opening the doors of some workshops? This is what we will offer you in the coming weeks. For this, an artist will be honored each week.

We will start with Nathalie Sabourin, painter at Magné!
His workshop, opened for a few months, brings a touch of color to the landscape! She very kindly agreed to answer our questions.
Question: How did your passion for painting come about?
Answer: I have always loved drawing, the visual arts, but it was when I saw a watercolorist working on the Royan seafront that I really wanted to paint.
Q: When did you choose to become a professional?
A: I didn't specifically choose to become a professional. My studies have led me to other paths that have nothing to do with art. However, I exhibited very early, in 1992. It was in 2001 that I became professional after meeting gallery owners, especially an art dealer, who made me take a turn in my career.
Q: Who are the artists and / or periods that inspire you?
A: The impressionist movement. With a special affection for Van Gogh and Monet.
Q: Why did you choose to mainly paint landscapes?
A: I have no particular reason. Probably for the pleasure of escape. Even when I paint characters, it remains in a playful or dreamlike setting. I want people to want to "enter" into my painting, a bit like opening a window. I always invite you to escape, dream or play.
Q: You offer courses and internships in your workshop. Is it accessible to everyone? Even to people who have never held a brush?
A: The courses are accessible to everyone, from beginners to amateur painters, adults and adolescents, because there are different modules, year-round courses or even thematic courses during the school holidays.
Q: What is your program for 2020 (expo, novelty, etc.)?
A: My program is not yet finished. I exhibit in my workshop which will be open all year round, except holidays or setting up an exhibition, from Wednesday to Saturday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
I will do local exhibitions like in the spring at the Xlab laboratory, or even at the Bocal Gourmand restaurant in Niort for example. But also in Loire Atlantique at Domytis in Saint-Nazaire and at the Skiper restaurant, as in Arcachon at the Galerie Droit de Regards.
I also exhibit in China, more particularly in Beijing, at the Galerie Carrés d'artiste.
Q: What should I say to someone who wants to get into painting?
A: To let your passion go by working a lot, and to share it. Exhibiting your work is essential for meeting people.
Thank you very much to Nathalie Sabourin for answering these questions, in order to share with you her artistic life.
