Christmas beyond our borders

Family Morgane - conseillère en séjours By Morgane - conseillère en séjours, the 22 December 2017

That's it, Christmas arrives!
By a few days, our tables will be furnished well as usual with foie gras, seafoods, fishes, poultry, cheeses and yule log (not exhaustive list!).
By thinking of my stomach already well filled at the idea of tasting all these delicious dishes, I wonder a thing. How celebrates Christmas at our neighbors?
For that purpose, I questioned Snezana, owner of the warm bed and breakfast La Chabanaise was situated to Cramchaban. Of Slavic origin, she grew 10 years lasting in the pure tradition of orthodox Christmas.
She points out to me that the Eve of Christmas at the orthodoxes is much less excessive and luxurious than in West.
First of all, everybody finds himself in the church for a moment of communion where traditional singings, mass and prayers get involved in the intoxicating heat of the festivities of Christmas.
The day of 24, you have to stay on an empty stomach until the first star illuminates the sky. This is when we get ready to put the feet under the table.
Place in the meal. On a table soberly decorated and decorated with straw, twelve simple dishes will be served to you. A dish with fish, with meat and with the others with walnuts, dried fruits, cereal, as well as biscuits in the honey and in the poppy.
I share you here the recipe of the koutia, puts it inescapable to be of use to his dinner guests.

The koutia

- 1 glass of wheat
- 3 cups of water
- 2 càs of honey
- 1/2 cup(s) of poppy seeds

It left
- Wash the wheat and let it soak into the water during 2-3 am.
- Drain the wheat and pay some hot water above. Bring to a boil, lower the fire and let simmer until the preparation of the wheat (approximately 1 h).
- Cut walnuts, mold poppy seeds in a coffee grinder.
- Once the well done wheat, add raisins, walnuts, poppy and mix.
- Serve the cooled koutia.

Having shared this meal together, useful and simple presents will be to exchange with your close relations. Respect, sharing and love are the foundations of this evening of Christmas.
